The John Mayer Style (JMS) project is the brainchild of an English singer who emigrated long ago for love in Tuscia. He proposed the idea of sharing the arduous task of replicating John Mayer, me on guitar and him on vocals. Having found a drummer and bassist in town, we began the challenging rehearsals focused on the material of the John Mayer Trio (Pino Palladino on bass and Steve Jordan on drums). The point here is in the word Style: to cover material from the John Mayer Trio but also covers performed by the Trio or by John Mayer in general, in his style inspired by the blues as well as Hendrix and SRV with some funk/pop contamination.
Cover bands dealing with this material are not many. Maybe very few or none in Italy. Certainly not in the area where we are expected to operate, so maybe the surprise factor will help. The first appearance in early December 2023 was promising. Then unfortunately the bass player had to leave us…
We had a little time apart, it was also due to various personal vicissitudes. Then I got the bass player of my other cover band, Music Box, involved. Luckily for us, he had recently left another project and was enthusiastic about the music to be played and the complex stylings of Pino Palladino, an idea that had been tickling him for some time.
